Peacemaker / Falcon Replacement Briar Bowl – Algiers Natural

One of the cleverest things about the Falcon system is that when you fancy a new pipe, you don't necessarily need to buy a new pipe.

The Peacemaker Algiers Natural is an interchangeable briar bowl made to fit compatible Falcon-style stems. Unscrew the existing bowl, screw this one into its place and you've changed the character of the pipe in considerably less time than it takes to decide what tobacco to put in it.

The Algiers is an old Falcon shape, with a broad, low-set Calabash-like profile. There's a generous sweep across the top and a pronounced taper towards the metal base, making it considerably more distinctive than the familiar Billiard or Apple. Historic Falcon literature classes the Algiers as a small-to-medium capacity design.

This Light version is fashioned from briar and given a smooth, warm natural-brown finish. The pale stain leaves the character of the timber visible, and as briar is a natural material, grain and colouring will inevitably vary somewhat from bowl to bowl.

The interchangeable idea also has a practical advantage. A handful of bowls can be rotated on the same stem, or individual bowls can be kept for different tobaccos. One for Virginias, another for Latakia mixtures, perhaps another because you saw it in the cabinet and decided you needed it.

The latter is a surprisingly common system.
