Peacemaker / Falcon Replacement Briar Bowl – Dover Natural

The great advantage of the Falcon system is that the bowl and stem don't regard marriage as a lifelong commitment. A quick unscrew and another bowl can take its place.

The Peacemaker Dover Natural is an interchangeable briar bowl made for use with compatible Falcon pipe stems, giving you another shape to add to the rotation while keeping the same metal stem.

The Dover is a chunky, substantial design. It has a broad flat rim, relatively upright sides and a gently rounded lower section that curves neatly into the Falcon base. It's less flamboyant than the Algiers and has the pleasingly solid appearance of something made for regular use.

Here it's finished in Natural, leaving the briar a warm, light honey-brown. There's relatively little stain disguising the timber, so the grain remains clearly visible across the bowl. Each piece of briar will naturally differ, making small variations in colour and figuring part of the character rather than a fault.

The screw fitting makes changing bowls a matter of seconds. It also means you can keep several bowls in rotation, letting one rest while another is smoked, or dedicate different bowls to different tobacco blends.

Of course, Falcon's interchangeable system does create one small problem. Once you've discovered that one stem can accommodate several bowls, owning several bowls begins to look suspiciously like sensible housekeeping.
