Erik Nording Shorty Pipes

Not every smoking occasion calls for a large briar pipe and a leisurely hour in an armchair. Sometimes there is only time for a brief pause, and that is precisely what inspired Erik Nørding to create the Shorty. Unlike anything else in the Danish pipe world, the Shorty combines clever engineering with practicality, offering a genuine pipe-smoking experience in a compact format.

At the heart of the design is a removable white porcelain bowl containing roughly the same amount of tobacco as a cigarette, providing a smoke of around twenty minutes. Beneath the bowl sits a chamber filled with Nørding's highly absorbent filter stones, made from a unique volcanic clay found in Denmark's Limfjord region. These stones absorb moisture exceptionally well, producing a cooler, drier smoke while ensuring very little tobacco goes to waste.

The Shorty demonstrates the inventive side of Erik Nørding and his son Knud, proving that pipe making can still evolve while respecting tradition. Compact enough to carry almost anywhere, it is a fascinating addition to any pipe collection and an ideal choice for those seeking a shorter smoke.
