This one’s a bit different — and all the better for it.
The X Pipe isn’t a guide, and it’s not trying to teach you how to pack a bowl or wax lyrical about flavour notes. Instead, it leans into something far more interesting — the mythology, the obsession, and the strange little world that seems to gather around pipe smoking.
You follow two pipemen — Mundungus and Sparks — on what starts as a search and quickly turns into something far more peculiar. There’s time travel, sacred pipe traditions, historical detours, and just enough eccentricity to keep you slightly off balance the whole way through.
It’s clever without being heavy, odd without being difficult, and very much written by someone who properly understands the culture — not just the act of smoking, but everything that surrounds it.
If most pipe books sit neatly on a shelf, this one wanders off and does its own thing.
And frankly, that’s exactly the point.
Pair it with a proper briar and you’re halfway there:
