This is where it starts getting interesting.
Not just pipes on a shelf, but who made them, why they look the way they do, and what people have been doing with them for the last four thousand-odd years. Some of these books go deep — Peterson, shapes, history — the sort of thing you don’t realise you’re interested in until you’re halfway through it.
Then you’ve got the more eccentric end of things. Tolkien, pipe-weed, smoke rings… the quieter side of pipe smoking that isn’t really about buying anything at all.
Best approached with a pipe on. Preferably already lit.
