Exotic Mixture is one of Rattray’s brighter offerings — a mild aromatic dressed with tropical fruit notes that call to mind mango, passionfruit, and perhaps a touch of pineapple. It’s blended in Germany for Rattray’s of Perth, part of their modern aromatic range that still manages to stay tasteful rather than flashy.

The cut is soft ribbon, easy to pack and light, with a base of Virginia, Burley, and Black Cavendish. The topping is fruity, but not sticky — enough to give the room a pleasant note without clinging to the pipe for days after. Smokes cool, provided you don’t puff like a kettle, and tends to behave well without bite.

Ideal for warmer months or a change of pace. It’s not the sort of thing I’d reach for daily, but when the mood’s right, it makes for a light, cheerful bowl.
