Black Mallory is one of Rattray’s core English blends — full-bodied, smoky, and wonderfully balanced. The recipe harks back to Charles Rattray’s early 20th-century work in Perth, where he sought to marry bold Latakia with finesse rather than sheer weight. That ethos carries through here.

The base is Virginia, with a good measure of Latakia and Oriental leaf giving it spice and body. A touch of Black Cavendish rounds off the edges without sweetening the deal. The result is a blend that burns cool, tastes complex, and never feels muddled.
