Punch Princesas Edición Limitada 2025 – Full Box of 20 There's a rather pleasing bit of British history behind Punch cigars. The brand was established in 1840, originally with the British market in mind, and took its name from Mr Punch, the rather ill-tempered fellow from the Punch and Judy shows.

Considering the amount of shouting and general disorder associated with the character, it's remarkable that his name ended up attached to such a distinguished Cuban cigar.

For its 185th anniversary, Punch has revived the Princesas, a name and format recalling the marque's cigars of the 1960s. This new Edición Limitada 2025 measures 135mm by a 52 ring gauge, using the substantial Edmundo factory vitola.

Every cigar is handmade in Cuba using long-filler tobacco from Vuelta Abajo, with the wrapper, binder and filler leaves aged for at least two years before manufacture. The blend is medium in strength, opening with measured tobacco richness and a slightly bitter edge before developing toasted flavours and cedar. As it progresses, the smoke becomes fuller and creamier, retaining that recognisable Punch character throughout.

The Princesas also carries a thoughtful dedication. Habanos created this anniversary release in recognition of the women involved throughout the Cuban cigar industry, from growing and rolling the tobacco to the people who sell and enjoy the finished cigars.

And then there's the presentation.

The full box of 20 comes in a handsome olive-green lacquered case with a contrasting pale lid, traditional Punch insignia and a natural wood interior. Each cigar carries three distinctive bands, including the 185th-anniversary emblem, the black-and-gold Edición Limitada 2025 band and a green Punch foot band. It's a fitting anniversary release from one of Havana's oldest names, and a particularly attractive addition to a collection of Cuban Limited Editions.

Mr Punch himself might have demanded a bigger celebration, but then he was never known for his restraint.
