Talamona pipes come out of Italy with a quiet confidence about them, and this Toscano Zebrano No. 04 shows exactly why. The first thing you notice is the zebrawood finish — alternating pale and darker grain lines running cleanly across the bowl and shank. It’s not a stain effect either; it’s the natural character of the wood, and it gives the pipe a look that stands apart from the usual briar.
The bowl sits in a slightly canted egg shape, leaning forward just enough to give the pipe a relaxed stance in the hand. The proportions are tidy and comfortable, with a smooth transition from bowl to shank and a warm amber-toned acrylic stem finishing the piece.
Italian pipes have a habit of balancing practicality with style, and this one manages both rather nicely. Something a little different on the rack, but still very much a working pipe.
