Savinelli St Nicholas 2026 6mm Briar Pipe – 626 Savinelli's 626 has always been one of those shapes that seems to get everything about right. A comfortably rounded Apple bowl, a gentle bend and sensible dimensions have made it one of the more popular shapes in the firm's considerable catalogue.

For the St Nicholas 2026, they've sent it off for Christmas dressed considerably better than most of us manage.

The briar receives a rugged rusticated finish with a rich brown-to-burgundy stain, and the photographs show it particularly well on the 626. The deep texture breaks up the colour across that rounded bowl, with dark recesses and warmer ruby highlights appearing as the surface catches the light.

Then there's the stem. Savinelli has chosen pearlescent green methacrylate for 2026, running from very dark forest green through emerald and almost turquoise tones. At the shank sits a narrow red methacrylate band between two slim aluminium rings, providing the little flash of Christmas colour that identifies this year's St Nicholas series.

The 626 is Savinelli's regular-sized Bent Apple, with a softly rounded bowl flowing into a gently rising shank and curved fishtail stem. It's compact and light enough to make a very agreeable everyday pipe rather than something destined to spend eleven months of the year in its box.

This version has Savinelli's 6mm drilling, suitable for its 6mm balsa system as well as compatible 6mm filters.

Savinelli has been producing the St Nicholas as its annual Christmas series for years, changing the dress while retaining familiar house shapes. The 2026 combination works especially well on the 626: traditional brown briar, that extraordinary green stem and just enough red and silver at the join.

Christmas colours, certainly. But thankfully nobody thought to put a little white beard on the bowl.
