Savinelli St Nicholas 2026 310 – 6mm Briar Pipe Every year, Savinelli produces a Christmas pipe, and the St Nicholas 2026 collection continues a tradition that has become rather popular among pipe smokers who appreciate a little seasonal colour.
The 310 is a handsome semi-bent Poker, with a tall cylindrical bowl, broad flat base and a long, gently rising shank. It's a particularly pleasing shape, with the substantial bowl balanced by a comparatively slender stem.
The briar has been given a deep, irregular rusticated finish, stained a rich reddish-brown that catches the light across its textured surface. There's plenty of character in the carving, particularly around the lower bowl and the junction with the shank. At the end of the briar sits a narrow red accent band between two bright silver-coloured rings, followed by a beautifully coloured pearlescent green acrylic stem. The green shifts from deep emerald to lighter translucent tones as it catches the light, giving the pipe a distinctly festive appearance.
The mouthpiece has a comfortable fishtail button and a gentle downward curve, while the 6mm filter fitting offers the option of using a filter according to personal preference.
Savinelli has been making pipes in Italy for generations, with the family's involvement in the trade stretching back to 1876, when Achille Savinelli opened his tobacco shop in Milan. The firm has since become one of the most recognisable names in Italian briar pipe making.
The 310's flat-bottomed Poker bowl is particularly useful when you want to put your pipe down on a level surface between smokes, although a little common sense is still required where hot ash and polished furniture are concerned. A fine addition to the St Nicholas series, and one that looks every bit as attractive in July as it does beside the Christmas tree.
