This straight Zulu from Ropp is a lovely example of French shaping done right — lean, poised, and just a touch uncommon. The line traces back to the 19th-century Jura workshops of Charles Ropp, where horn stems and continental curves became the house style. Today’s pieces still emerge from Saint-Claude using vintage tools and time-worn jigs, and this one carries the past in its posture.

The bowl’s canted slightly forward, giving it that rakish Zulu profile, but with a long, straight shank that makes for an elegant silhouette and a cool, dry draw.
