La Galera La Galera is a cigar brand created by José “Jochy” Blanco, a Dominican Republic cigar expert. His factory in Tamboril, Tabacalera Palma, has been making cigars since 1936. The name “La Galera” comes from the rolling room, which is the heart of any good cigar factory. That’s where skilled workers, patience, and discipline come together in harmony. The soft tapping of tobacco and the low hum of conversations that have been going on for generations create a special atmosphere.

Connecticut The Connecticut series features a lighter hand from Blanco. It’s a golden Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over a Dominican Piloto Cubano binder with long fillers of Piloto and Criollo ’98. It’s creamy, nutty, and just a touch sweet on the draw with a polished undercurrent of oak and fresh hay. This Half Corona size keeps the flavours bright and concise, perfect for a midday smoke or those moments when you don’t want to rush a Churchill but still want something with character.

Smoking Experience This cigar starts with a smooth, creamy, and light toast on your tongue. It’s gentle and refined, but not boring. As you get to the middle, the Dominican tobaccos come through with a sweet grain and a subtle pepper kick. The last third gets a bit stronger, with more wood, a hint of caramelised coffee, and a surprisingly long finish for a small cigar. It’s perfect for a quick walk or a cozy cup of coffee on a chilly morning.

Cellophane Wrapped Cigars: Each Half Corona is sealed in its own tin to keep it fresh. They’ll stay good for a few weeks in a cool, dark cupboard, but if you like to savour them over time, put the tin in a humidor to keep the Connecticut’s subtlety alive.

Preperation The La Galera Connecticut Half Corona is a top-notch hand-rolled Dominican cigar. Before lighting, you’ll need to cut or punch it. A sharp guillotine cut just above the shoulder is perfect. Then, light it slowly and draw gently.
