Joya de Nicaragua, established in Estelí in 1968, holds the distinction of being Nicaragua’s oldest cigar factory and a cornerstone of the country’s tobacco heritage. Their Joya Black Coronet draws upon this Nicaraguan foundation but infuses it with a darker flavour profile.
The core of the blend comprises Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos, encased in a dark Mexican San Andrés leaf. This wrapper imparts Joya Black’s distinctive character, delivering earthy richness, cocoa, coffee and a hint of natural sweetness alongside the peppery depth typical of Nicaraguan tobacco.
The Coronet’s size makes it particularly practical. Its slim and relatively short stature offers ample flavour without the time commitment of larger Robusto or Toro cigars. The wrapper’s pleasingly rustic appearance complements the blend beautifully. While it may be a small cigar in stature, it certainly doesn’t lack character.
