Joya de Nicaragua, based in Estelí since 1968, has crafted the Antaño 1970 cigar to honour its earlier years. Introduced as a tribute to the robust Nicaraguan cigars that solidified the factory’s reputation in the 1970s, it remains one of Joya’s fuller offerings.
The Antaño 1970 Coronet is a Nicaraguan puro. It combines Nicaraguan filler and binder with a Habano Criollo wrapper. Despite its smaller Coronet size, this isn’t a mild cigar. The smoke develops a rich depth of earthy tobacco, dark coffee, wood and pepper, complemented by a hint of natural sweetness.
Its slim proportions make the Coronet a convenient way to savour the Antaño character without committing to a larger vitola. It’s a strong traditional Nicaraguan cigar, a small cigar carrying a substantial piece of Joya de Nicaragua’s history.
