Gawith Hoggarth’s Bob’s CH Flake is one of those blends that’s been around long enough to stop worrying about fashion. A rich full flavoured flake tobacco comprising of 8% Latakia, 82% Virginia from Brazil, Zimbabwe & Malawi, 8% Malawi Sun Cured & 2% Malawi Burley, it’s finished with a light cocoa topping that adds warmth rather than turning the whole thing into pudding.

In the bowl, you get a steady mix of flavours. The Virginias bring a natural sweetness, the Latakia adds a smoky, slightly leathery edge, and the cocoa sits quietly in the background, rounding things off. It’s more “dark chocolate” than sweet shop, and it behaves best if you take your time with it. Rush it and it’ll nip back, as flakes often do.

Made in Kendal using the same methods Gawith Hoggarth have relied on for generations, Bob’s CH Flake feels very much part of that tradition.
