Erik Nørding has been carving pipes in Denmark since the 1960s, and freehand shapes like this are very much his territory.
This Special Ebony 221 is a striking piece of briar. The bowl carries those bold, sculpted lines Nørding is known for, carved so the shape twists and folds in a way that gives the pipe real presence in the hand. The deep ebony finish gives it a dramatic look, while the plateau rim keeps things properly rooted in natural briar.
The stem follows the line of the pipe nicely, sweeping out with that slightly theatrical Danish flair Nørding has always enjoyed. It balances well and sits comfortably despite the generous bowl.
A proper Danish freehand. Bold, distinctive, and unmistakably Nørding.
