Butz Choquin pipes are hand crafted from the finest Mediterranean Briar according to a meticulous manufacturing process that has been perfected over a 140 year history through 4 generations. Every Butz Choquin briar block is dried naturally over several months before being passed through the hands of no fewer than 80 craftsmen until the final pipe is polished and inspected ready to be re-homed.

The Butz Choquin Calabash Junior is the more pocket friendly version of the Calabash 2000 Briar Smoking pipe. Again it wouldn't look out of place in a Sherlock Holmes movie just more as his travelling comfort companion than his office pipe. All though the Junior is the 2000's smaller brother it still aint a small pipe. It should fit comfortably in the average coat pocket yet still has a fairly deep bowl to allow a generous fill and keep the char protected from the wind and flaring up. The briar wall is still of a good thickness to prevent the pipe overheating while a long exaggerated curved stem allows plenty of time for the smoke to cool resulting in a smoother, cooler smoke. The lipped head of the bowl helps you get a good grip in the same way as a Nonic pint glass (the one with the lip that the bar man/person/woman gives you after a few too many to save getting the dust pan and brush out) If you want a pipe to suit all weather while still being a good fireside pipe then the Calabash Junior is the one for you.

The Butz Choquin Calabash Junior Pipe incorporates the re-usable metal filter system. The metal filter is suspended in the middle of a moisture trap, which forces the smoke to spiral round the cool metal before entering the stem. This causes condensation, which naturally removes tar and moisture deposits from the smoke trapping them in the shank for a cool pleasant smoking experience. Simply wipe clean in between smokes. The metal filter can be removed all together for smokers who prefer a totally un-restricted full bodied smoke.
