A proper showpiece from the shores of Lake Maggiore: a tall Dublin of clean Italian lines set on a length of natural bamboo, each node left proud like knuckles on an old craftsman’s hand. Brebbia began in 1947 when Enea Buzzi partnered with Achille Savinelli; the workshop still turns out thousands of air-cured briars each year using the same antique lathes for the roughing and finishing every piece by hand. The “Pura Naturale” treatment lets the honeyed grain speak for itself, while the bamboo shank keeps the pipe light in the hand and lively on the clench. Their own inserted-tenon system mates sweetly to a sleeved mortise for that firm, creak-free fit you look for, and the comfortable fishtail stem carries the little Brebbia diamond like a wink. Modern Italian styling, old-school workmanship—this one has Sunday best written all over it, yet it’ll graft happily through a week of Virginias.
