The Zippo 48594 Death Kiss Design Lighter has a wonderfully dramatic sort of look to it. Two skeletons locked in a kiss beneath a rose, all done in a style that feels somewhere between vintage tattoo artwork and an old gothic playing card.
Not exactly subtle, mind you.
But then subtlety’s overrated sometimes.
The pale finish gives the artwork a proper aged look, almost like something discovered in the pocket of a travelling poet who’d spent far too much time in candlelit taverns writing questionable love letters.
There’s a bit of dark romance about it without becoming overly gloomy. More “midnight absinthe and bad decisions” than teenage misery.
Underneath the artwork, it’s still every inch a genuine Zippo lighter — windproof, refillable and built with that reassuringly solid metal construction Zippo’s famous for. Opens with that lovely sharp click too, which never seems to get old no matter how many times you hear it.
Ideal for collectors, gothic artwork lovers, tattoo enthusiasts, or anybody wanting a lighter with a bit more character than the usual plain brushed chrome affair.
A cracking little thing, really.
