Camping Design Zippo’s Camping Design lighter carries the look of an old watercolour postcard – the sort folk used to pin to the noticeboard after a summer up in the Dales. The full-body print wraps right around the case, setting out a small green tent pitched beneath tall pines, with the fading light catching the sky in that soft, late-evening way only the outdoors manages.
It stirs up memories of brew-ups on a Primus stove and the steady comfort of a fire when the air starts to nip. Zippo have long had a knack for capturing moments like this; ever since the 1930s their lighters have travelled in rucksacks, kitbags, and coat pockets of those who preferred the quiet of the hills to the racket of the towns.
The usual dependable build is here, of course – that familiar windproof lid and the solid feel in the hand. But it’s the artwork that gives this one its heart: a small reminder of canvas, pine needles, and a bit of fresh air when you need it most.
