Peterson Plato Freehands:
Not a shape code in sight! Petersons core range of pipes are easily identifiable by their codes and you can usually get any finish and style in the shape and size you wish.
Each Plato is totally unique and you will never see one alike. Only a handful of carvers in the world are good enough to be given the reigns to go freehand by Peterson as it takes considerable skill and vision. The Briar blocks are cut from the outer layer of the burl (exterior) of the Briar root and are known as Plateaux Briar. This is the finest area of the Briar root and produces the most striking grain pattern and highest quality Briar.
Due to the lack or raw material and lack of carvers capable of making them you will not see many of these on the market.
Peterson Plato Freehand:
As the Plato is a freehand pipe each pipe is a unique one-off masterpiece so nobody will ever have a pipe the same. For this reason you are guaranteed to get the exact pipe in the picture with exactly the same grain pattern.
The Briar is hand selected for each pipe before one of the most experienced pipe carvers sets to work. Nobody knows how the grain will flow through the block so a high level of expertise is required to carve the optimum shape to enhance the grain and feel of the pipe. Nothing ever quite feels or looks like a freehand.
Peterson Plato Black and White
The Peterson Plato pipes come in various finishes. The Black and White has a rich brown stain which deepens the darker grain to a very dark Brown colour while the lighter areas of the grain remain a light brown colour. This makes for a very striking finish that enhances the spectacular flame grain of the Plateaux Briar.
Unique mouthpiece designed to greatly enhance the smokers experience. The lip is shaped to fit the mouth more comfortably with the tongue pressed under the lip. The smoke exits above the lip, which significantly reduces tongue bite from even the most bitter smoking tobacco’s.
