Unfortunately these pipes were only limited edition and we have now sold out but as always we have left the descriptions here for historical reference and interest.

Throughout 2012's production Petersons craftsmen have been picking out special blocks of Briar for the 2013 pipe of the year. At the end of 2012 the reserved briar is weaned down to the best 1000 blocks for production of the Peterson pipe of the Year.

Peterson Pipe of the Year 2013 For 2013 Peterson are keeping the classical revival going with a half bent Billiard. The bowl tapers more to the rim than a standard Billiard for a very comfortable fit in the hand. As usual the pipe of the year is larger than standard as a premium pipe with thicker briar walls for a very heat resilient pipe and cool smoke. We thought the Silver smith had added a little extravagance last year with the embossed Sherlock Holmes emblem in the Solid Silver Band but "it's the return of Sherlock" (sorry couldn't resist) for a truly high grade finish.

Often Petersons pipe of the year can be a little obscure, which puts some collectors off but intrigues the collectors out there. For 2012 and 2013 they have made a pipe for the traditionalist smokers out there. Odd's on the restraint will break for 2014 and we would expect something much more obscure to jump out of the box. If you are a lover of classical shapes it may be your last chance for a couple of years.

Fishtail mouthpiece: Petersons trademark patented mouthpiece is the p.lip design, which has many advantages but unfortunately some smokers just don't get on with it. The Pipe of the year 2012 comes with the fishtail mouthpiece as an alternative for those who don't get on with the P.Lip.
