Dr Plumbs Meerschaum Lined 4503 9mm: The Dr Plumb Meerschaum lined 4503 is a British quality polished Briar pipe, which has been lined with Meerschaum. Meerschaum is a porous clay, which has excellent smoking properties as the clay absorbs moisture and allows more air to the Tobacco. This results in a drier, cleaner and smoother smoke. The Meerschaum also doesn't burn so there is no need for reaming or breaking in the pipe. The problem with Meerschaum is that it is fragile so if dropped it will break so they tend to be smoked at home. So the next best thing is Meerschaum lining. This gives the same smoking properties but the Meerschaum is protected by an outer layer or Briar, which many also find more aesthetically pleasing. The 4503 is finished in a rich red stain before being polished for a very clean finish and provides a stunning effect on the natural Briar grain and contrasts nicely with the meerschaum lining when viewed from above.

9mm Absorbent Filter The Dr Plumbs 4503 Meerschaum lined pipes are designed for use with the any 9mm absorbent stem filters. The larger diameter allows more smoke to pass through the filter, with less restriction, which makes for a better draw compared to the 6mm filters. The highly absorbent filters have a very high surface area resulting in excellent absorption of the tar as the smoke passes through without affecting draw or flavour.

The pipes have a standard 9mm bore so can be used with any brand of 9mm filter or will accept a 9mm adaptor if you wish to convert it to a condensing filter. Alternatively the filter can be removed all together for smokers who prefer a totally un-restricted full on smoke.
