Dr Plumbs Meerschaum Lined 4502: The Dr Plumb Meerschaum lined 4502 is a British quality light Briar pipe, which has been lined with Meerschaum. Meerschaum is a porous clay, which has excellent smoking properties as the clay absorbs moisture and allows more air to the Tobacco. This results in a drier, cleaner and smoother smoke. The Meerschaum also doesn't burn so there is no need for reaming or breaking in the pipe. The problem with Meerschaum is that it is fragile so if dropped it will break so they tend to be smoked at home. So the next best thing is Meerschaum lining. This gives the same smoking properties but the Meerschaum is protected by an outer layer or Briar, which many also find more aesthetically pleasing. The 4502 is the Lighter more matte finished model of the Dr Plumbs Meerschaum lined range and is fitted with the re-useable condensing filter. The light matte is a beautiful finish which really highlights the beautiful grain of the Briar.
Filtration: The Dr Plumbs 4502 Meerschaum Lined incorporate the re-usable metal filter system. The metal filter is suspended in the middle of a moisture trap, which forces the smoke to spiral round the cool metal before entering the stem. This causes condensation, which naturally removes tar and moisture deposits from the smoke trapping them in the shank for a cool pleasant smoking experience. Simply wipe clean in between smokes.
The metal filter can be removed if wished for smokers who prefer an un-restricted full bodied smoke.
