The art of shaving with a straight Razor daunts many new comers but with some brief research on the internet followed by the purchase of a QUALITY razor you will wonder why it has taken you so long to discover this luxurious, and cost effective start to the day.

Dovo Solingen of Germany have been making razors for over a hundred years and today are considered to be producer of the highest standard of cut throat razors, open razors and straight razors. Each Razor goes through over 80 labour intensive manufacturing processes to achieve the highest level of hardness, elasticity and resistance including hand honing and stropping by trained honing technicians.

The Dovo Solingen Classic White Handled Cut Throat Razor 101587 has a half ground 5/8 Carbon Steel Blade set in a White Resin Handle. It is the most affordable Straight Razor we would recommend as the majority of the value in this razor is aimed at the blade rather than the handle. Many entry level Razors have had more effort put into the handle decoration at a significant cost to the blade, resulting in disappointing and even dangerous results.

Commitment: Entering into the world of straight razors is daunting and we would be lying if we told you that you will pick up the technique straight from the box. Using a straight Razor does require a technique and maintaining your razor is a skill that must be learnt. There is endless advice on the internet and as long as you spend a bit of time learning the skill initially your efforts will be rewarded. Once learnt and added to your morning routine this skill will be rewarding and enjoyable and the thought of going back to a Mach 3 will turn your stomach.

Your new Dovo Razor is honed and stropped ready to use straight out of the box. It will be fine for a good few shaves but will need stropping at some point to polish the cutting edge. We can send your razor for stropping and or re-honing but learning yourself isn't too hard and will save you a lot of hassle.

Your Dovo razor must be rinsed in clean water and thoroughly dried after each use. If you are leaving it un-used for more than a few days we would recommend rubbing the blade with a fine mineral oil.
