Charles Rattray’s Briar Pipes
Charles Rattray’s master blenders have an impeccable worldwide reputation for their unique tobacco blends and unrivalled character. You can be forgiven for not knowing that Rattray’s also produce pipes as they were only released onto the general market in 2012. Their pipes were formerly reserved for exclusive sale in their Perth shop but they have answered many prayers by releasing these stunning pipes to retailers worldwide.
Charles Rattrays The Druid Sandblast Limited Edition Briar Pipes
Rattray’s are turning out to be the kings of limited edition pipes with new and exciting ranges produced every year.
The Druid range is limited to a mere 100 of each pipe worldwide which is a very low number indeed for a pipe range.
For the 2016 limited edition each pipe is individually numbered and has been inspired by Druids Druids who were not only healers harnessing the power of nature, they also were the leaders of their tribes. Stonehenge is their most popular place of worship and a silhouette of the memorial has been stamped on the ring of each pipe.
The Sandblast is a stunning sandblast pipe that has been expertly sandblast by Rattray’s expert craftsmen with stunning effect. A darker brown stain is used in the recessed areas of the grain with a lighter brown stain on the raised areas. The pipe has been finished with a contrasting marbled amber effect stem and polished band.
9mm Absorbent Filter
The Charles Rattray’s The Druid pipes are designed for use with the any 9mm absorbent stem filters. The larger diameter allows more smoke to pass through the filter, with less restriction, which makes for a better draw compared to the 6mm filters. The highly absorbent filters have a very high surface area resulting in excellent absorption of the tar as the smoke passes through without affecting draw or flavour.
The pipes have a standard 9mm bore so can be used with any brand of 9mm filter if preferred. Alternatively the filter can be removed altogether for smokers who prefer a totally un-restricted full on smoke.
The marbled mouthpiece in this picture is a one off and is unlikely to be the exact mouthpiece you will receive. There is variation from pipe to pipe with substantial differences in colours, patterns and marbling.
