Butz-Choquin Ventose Beige 1604 The Jura mountains of France, and Saint-Claude in particular, are the cradle of briar pipe-making. Butz-Choquin have been turning out their pipes there since 1858, carrying on a craft that’s as French as watchmaking is Swiss. The Ventose series is their chance to dress a traditional shape in something a little bolder. The 1604 is a bent billiard – one of the most practical shapes you’ll find, easy in the hand and steady on the draw – but finished in a glossy beige-brown marbled effect that catches the eye. The stem is cast in matching tones of acrylic, curved neatly, and takes a 9mm filter for those who like their smoke cooler and drier.
