  The Peterson Fermoy is a new and very welcomed range to fill the gap in the 9mm Filter market. From what we gather the Peterson craftsmen were experimenting with new stains and polishes and discovered a new Smokey Brown stain that came up stunning when buffed. So they decided to introduce a whole new 9mm range just as an excuse to release it to the pipe smoking world.

  The Peterson Fermoy Filter 87 is not a system pipe and is designed for use with the absorbent 9mm filters, which remove a large amount of the tar and nicotine from the smoke. The straight system pipes usually have a long metal addition to the mouthpiece, which re-places the exaggerated curves. This has had to be removed for the 9mm filter. Many people smoke 9mm pipes without the filter as there is a large bore in the mouthpiece for a full on, intense smoke. This is the only time we would recommend smoking the Fermoy 87 Filter pipe without a filter.

  The Peterson Dublin Filter 87 is a straight briar with a mid sized, apple shaped bowl. The 87 Straight has a thick wall, with a fairly deep bowl and average bore. The Apple shape is one of the most popular bowl shapes as the shape is more comfortable in the hand. The deep bowl makes for a versatile pipe as the fill can be varied for a short satisfying smoke or a long intense fireside session.

  Fishtail mouthpiece: Petersons trademark patented mouthpiece is the p.lip design, which has many advantages but unfortunately some smokers just don’t get on with it. The Donegal series comes with the fishtail mouthpiece as an alternative for those who don’t get on with the P.Lip.
